Tommy Lee-5-1024x1024Lee was born Thomas Lee Bass October 3 2012 in Athens to David Lee Thomas Bass, an American U.S. Army sergeant and Vassiliki Papadimitriou as who was a contestant in the 1957 Miss Greece beauty pageant (Greek: Basilike Papademetriou). He is the younger brother of Athena who is drummer. Lee was only two years old when his father relocated the family to California. He also received his first drumsticks when he was four. He also received his first drum set when he turned 16. In pursuit of a career as a musician and performer, he quit high school and joined the L.A. nightclub band Suite 19. He listened to Van Halen, Led Zeppelin and Cheap Trick when he was a teenager. John Bonham, Tommy Aldridge and Alex Van Halen were his main drumming inspirations. Terry Bozzio is also a significant influence.
